Mahib’s Story

My name is Mahib. I live locally, so my morning usually starts with a quick walk over. I travel in with a couple of friends, catching up before the day gets started. I joined Reach Academy back in Year 10, so staying on here for Sixth Form at Feltham College was a natural choice for me. I chose to stay and come to Feltham College because of the unmatched support system and close community. Because it’s a tight-knit setting, you get a level of personal attention and care from teachers that you just don’t get at bigger colleges.

What’s your experience been like so far?

My experience so far… honestly, it doesn’t even feel like an ‘experience’, it feels like a second home. The warmth here is huge, but the setting is small and cozy, just like a house. We’ve got couches, tables, and everyone hanging out together. We really operate like a family – I’m even pretty sure I even know everyone’s birthday here!

What’s the best thing about Feltham College?

The best thing is definitely the environment and the culture. Having a comfortable, cosy space where you can hang out, work together, and genuinely feel relaxed makes coming in every day enjoyable.

What are the teachers and the other students like?

The students feel like brothers and sisters, and the teachers genuinely care about you. They aren’t just giving instructions, they actually know who you are, encourage you, and push you forward while having your back.

What are you studying?

I’m currently studying Maths, Physics, and Economics.

What opportunities do you have outside the classroom to see unis, workplace, apprenticeships?

We get great exposure to life after college whether that’s guidance on university options, workshops, or chances to look into apprenticeships and workplace pathways so we’re ready for the future.

What are you planning on doing next?

After finishing at Feltham College, I’m planning to go and do an apprenticeship at a university to study Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I love playing chess, hitting the gym, and watching videos about space.

If you could only have one app on your phone which would it be?

Definitely YouTube I couldn’t live without it!

Who do you most admire?

I most admire life itself the opportunity to grow, learn, and experience everything around us every single day.

What would you say to someone who is thinking about coming here in September next year?

If you’re thinking about coming here, do it. It’s a real family environment where the amazing teachers actually know who you are. They encourage you, push you forward, and always have your back when you need them.
